The Board
The board is the live picture of your workshop floor. Every bay is a card, cards are grouped into zones, and everything on them updates as the shop changes. It is the home screen of BayWise Scheduler and the screen your controller spends the day in.
The board is not a plan you read and then act on separately. It is where the acting happens: work is started, paused, checked in on, moved, handed over and cancelled from the cards themselves.
What is on the screen
The toolbar
Across the top: the workshop’s name, a live count of bays, zones and free bays, and the current time at the location — not on your own device, which matters when the shop is in Dubai and you are not.
The toolbar also holds the vehicle search, the date control, the filter, the card density switch, the view switch, and the buttons for checking a vehicle in and closing the day.
The search finds any vehicle that has ever been through the workshop, including ones already handed over, so “what happened to that Corolla last month” is a question the board can answer.
Bay cards
One card per bay, in the order you set. An occupied card shows the vehicle, the work in progress, who is on it, the stage it has reached, a countdown, and the promise time. An empty card shows that the bay is free, and whether another vehicle is already booked into it soon.
Cards carry their state in colour and label rather than making you interpret times: free, changeover, awaiting start, running, paused, running over, finished, under maintenance, reserved.

Zones
Cards are grouped under zone headers showing the zone name, how many bays it holds, and its supervisor. A workshop with no zones configured sees one ungrouped floor, and nothing behaves differently — zones organise the view and the responsibility, they are not required to schedule.
The action centre
A rail down the right-hand side, collapsed by default so the floor gets the width. Collapsed, it still shows a count of how many things are urgent, so nothing hides.
Opened, it is a triage list: the vehicles that need a human, ranked, each with a plain-language reason and the actions available. It is organised into five lenses — needs action, waiting, in progress, unblock, and could not schedule.
The action centre is the answer to “what should I do next?”, and on a busy day it is the only part of the board a controller strictly needs.

The detail pane
Tapping a card opens a pane on the right for that vehicle. It holds the full stage-by-stage record: what each stage was planned to take, what it actually took, who did it, whether it ran over, and any delays reported against it.
It also carries the vehicle’s history — every repair order this vehicle has had at your workshop — and, once a vehicle has been handed over, the repair analysis for the job.

The change feed
An Updated control in the toolbar that tells you what changed since the board last refreshed: a car came in, a car left a bay, work started, a stage advanced, a promise moved, something was re-planned to a new time.
This is what makes an unattended board safe to walk away from. You do not have to have watched it to know what happened while you were on the floor.
The board keeps itself up to date without being reloaded, and the countdowns tick continuously. If you leave it open on a wall screen, it stays honest.
Three views of the same day
The view switch offers three ways to look at the same work:
Cards — the default. The floor as bays. Best for running the day.
Bays — a calendar with one row per bay and time across the top. Best for seeing how tightly the day is packed and where a bay has a gap.
Techs — the same calendar, one row per technician. Best for seeing workload balance and who is free when.
The two calendar views are read-only pictures of the current plan. You do not schedule by dragging on them; the work is changed from the cards and the action centre.
Filtering and density
Filter narrows the floor to particular zones and to a status: due soon, delayed, paused, or yet to start. Filters are for cutting a large floor down to the part you are working on — a twenty-two bay shop filtered to “delayed” is a short list.
Card density switches between full and compact cards. Compact fits far more bays on one screen and is what most wall displays run.
Neither filtering nor density changes anything about the plan. They change what you are looking at.
What the board is for each role

What each person can do on the board depends on their role. Controls a person does not have permission for are not shown to them at all.
When the board is read-only
There is one situation in which the board shows everything but allows nothing: an earlier day has not been closed yet.
When a day is left unclosed, scheduling for the current day stops and the board’s actions are disabled, each with a note explaining why. Checking a vehicle in and clocking on still work normally — those are records of things that physically happened, and they are never blocked.
Closing the outstanding day releases the board immediately.
